CLASSIFICATION OF HAZARDOUS GOODS

There are nine classes of hazardous goods.

Within certain categories of risk, the goods are assigned a code intended to specify the nature and degree of danger or particular characteristics.

For safety reasons, certain materials and objects in Classes 1, 2, 6.2 and 7
are not accepted in the Alloin network.

Class 1: Explosive substances and objects

This class includes:
- Explosive materials, except for those that are too dangerous to be transported.
- Explosive objects, except for devices that contain explosive materials in quantities or of a type such that their ignition would not result in any projection, fire, smoke, heat or intense noise outside of the device.
- Substances and objects not mentioned above which are manufactured for the purpose of producing an explosive or pyrotechnical effect .

N°1

Class 2: Compressed, liquefied or dissolved gasses

This class includes:
- Compressed gasses, liquefied gasses, gasses in solution, refrigerated liquefied gasses, gas mixes, mixes of one or several gasses with one or several vapours of substances in other classes, items loaded with gas, Tellurium hexafluoride, aerosols, cryogenic liquids.

N°2.1

non-toxic gasses
N°2.2
Non-flammable gasses
non-toxic gasses
N°2.3

Class 3: Flammable liquids

This class includes:
- Liquids, liquid mixes.
- Liquids containing solids in solution or in suspension (paints, varnishes, lacquers, etc.)
- Materials transported at high temperatures in a liquid state and emitting flammable vapours at a temperature lower than or equal to the maximum transport temperature.

N°3
Fire hazard (flammable
liquid materials)

Class 4: Flammable solids, materials subject to spontaneous ignition, substances dangerous in the presence of moisture

This class includes the following divisions:

4 .1 Flammable solids:
Desensitised explosive materials, self-reacting materials, solids that ignite easily.

Spontaneously combustible materials:
Pyrophoric materials, self-heating materials.

Substances dangerous when wet:
Solids or liquids whose reaction with water is likely to cause spontaneous ignition or release flammable gasses.
